Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to establish the manuscripts acquisition policy on the Military Affairs Administration focused on historical, cultural, and informational value. The collection of manuscripts is part of 40 anniversary of MMA to build the MMA archives and to establish acquisition policy. To achieve this objective, we proposed the MAA’s archival mission statement, collection coverage, collection methods and procedures.
Abstract
ADD(Agency for Defense Development) has developed digital audio-visual archives management system to ensure easy access and long-term preservation for digital audio-visual archives. This paper covers total process of the system development and database management in the aspect of preservation and utilization by users' easy search through digitization of audio-visual archives. In detail, it contains system design for images and video data handling, standard workflow establishment, data quality, and metadata settings for database by converting an analog data into digital format. Also, this study emphasizes the importance of audio-visual archives management system through cost-effectiveness analysis.
Abstract
In this study, the improvement plan for the appropriate archives opening system in this country was proposed, by searching for the optimal operating method of opening system of archival institutions through the foreign instances related to the integrated type operation and the separate type operation. The opening system in the archival institutions shall be operated in consideration of the characteristics of the preserved archives and the various values and contexts rather than riding on the administrative logics. Abstract
The purpose of the study is to analyze the user satisfaction of ‘the Presidential Web Record Service' using a proposed model of the user satisfaction index which consists of contents quality, service quality, and system quality. In addition, user's royalty and compliant are also measured in this study. This study shows that satisfaction of contents quallity and system quality influence significantly on the user satisfaction. And contents quality, service quality, user satisfaction show a significant relationships to user's royalty.
Abstract
This is a research analyzed general patten and change as measure and guidances about government reorganization and surveyed a state of the records management according to the reorganization. The result of analysis, first, the guideline of government reorganization requires complementary measures according to the various patten and primary factor. The archives management according to the reorganization requires not only the change of the function between organizations but between internal organizations. It is arrangement guidance of transferring secret records and special archives management division records according to reorganization. Forth, archivist and official's duty related with transferring records should be stipulated according to Government reorganization. Fifth, the records oversight and missing should be minimized as amending related laws and regulation.
Abstract
This study reconfigures meanings of photographs for appearing of visual culture paradigm. By this, a strategy model for digitization could establish which needs when photographs are digitized. A strategy model for digitization is based on essential issues when digitized. Also, applying the project life-cycle and digitization chain model, the processes are suggested as a general reference model. Broadly, Three steps, Pre-project step, Production step, Post-project step, are divided and Specifically, Four steps, ① Establishment and management of the whole project plans ② Selecting the target for the digitization of photographs ③ Digital Conversion and Quality Control ④ Preservation and access, are separated. Substantial digitization strategy of photographs is built based on chain model of digitization to guarantee qualities of creating digital objects. Each step is constituted with basic processes, details and checklists.
Abstract
The classification in the Records and Archives Sciences focuses on the contextual information in producing and utilizing records rather than their contents. This study aimed at designing an automatic records classification system to enable an automatic classification focusing on the aggregation of the context of records rather than the contents of individual record in the classification scheme, structured on the basis of business activities analyses for records reflecting the business activities. The automatic records classification system was designed to have mutual supplements by constructing the classification scheme and thesaurus together as the classification reference, as well as the aggregation of records that have been already classified. Additionally included are plans to apply the classified contextual information of records to the classification reference on the real-time base right after the category assignment of records to be classified. Although there are limitations as the designed system depends on the quality of the contextual information, it is considered that the system could lead to ensure that the contextual information of records should be more substantial.
Abstract
The government and public institutions are conducting public-opinion surveys as means of drawing the scientific policy decisions throughout the country's whole sectors ; society, culture, welfare, education, etc. The Government Survey Data have been under management by each governmental department, but the improper ways of data collection and management have led to omissions and losses of some data. Also there are limitations on the statistic usage and access to the data due to the fact that the data are managed dispersedly in the form of printed materials. Accordingly, to make the survey data available for the long-term preservation and usage, this study suggests collection policy, standard of evaluation, metadata, the procedure and method of converting materials, preservation format.
Abstract
Photographic records are very useful and meaningful in the point of view that users can understand those things easily. However, there are few case of digitalizing photographic records, compared to printed records because of high cost and management limitation. The purpose of this study is to provide improvement plan and consideration for digitalizing analog photographic records. To achieve the goals, this study analyzes management status of photographic records in 16 provincial offices. Also, this study performs a case study on digitalization of analog photographic records and implementation of DB relating digitalized photographic records in J provincial office. Based on the results, this study proposes how to digitalize analog photographic records, and manage of digitalized photographic records.
Abstract
All records have attribute of representing the object, so archives should develop digital record exhibition to facilitate attribute that representing the object. If building cultural properties are chose as the represented object, it should be followed by analysis of nature values and record contents and applied to the suitable framework. Therefore, this study suggests the organized process of designing the framework which develops digital representing contents based on records.
